RFID

RFID or radio-frequency identification is a technology whereby digital data are captured by a reader via radio waves.  It was developed for contactless data exchange across short distances. With a range of up to 10 cm and using loosely coupled inductive circuits a maximum data transmission rate of 424 Kbps can be achieved.

Applications for RFID are diverse and include identification and surveillance of persons, animals and objects, real-time document verification and anti-theft security.
