When the TETRA BOS digital radio network was launched by the Federal Agency for Public Safety and Digital Radio (BDBOS) in Germany in 2007, the German authorities began the transition from an analogue to a digital voice and data communication network.
The TETRA BOS digital radio network is based on the Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) standard and used by German authorities and organisations with security-related functions such as police, fire service, emergency services and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief.
The reliability and interoperability of stationary and mobile radio devices and control centres that are used in the TETRA BOS network is absolutely essential. Before any device can be used in the TETRA BOS digital radio network it has to be tested and certified in accordance with the Federal Office for Information Security’s (BSI) requirements. TETRA BOS testing may only be performed by BSI-accredited laboratories pursuant to ISO17025.
